The Oxblood Boot
The Oxblood Boot
I was searching for the right fit, but something that would include style. It would need to have ankle support. I’m a tall fellow and don’t do well without basketball style shoes or better. I opted to look into some boots. I knew of a store that held mostly high-quality leather jackets but also had a small selection of leather boots. I decided to go check out this store on the weekend with my close friend Berry.
Schott NYC is one of the oldest leather jacket companies, the real deal. We walked into the Schott NYC flagship store and were immediately engulfed in the pleasant but distinct fragrance of authentic fresh leather. The boots had the quality, no doubt, but not the style. I didn’t save up good money hoping to buy a solid pair, just to walk around in them feeling sub-par. We walked out, empty-handed. Berry was also looking to buy shoes, so we were determined to find something.
As we browsed around further in the downtown area, it occurred to Berry. What about “Taft,” he said. I wasn’t sure what Berry was referring to, but at this point was open to anything. It took a bit to find the Taft store, but find we have. I remember stepping in and just feeling absolutely overwhelmed with options of solid-looking products. I couldn’t for the life of me make up my mind. But then, it happened. The boot was all the way on the top row of the displays. I was instantaneously struck by the beauty of this Spanish made boot.
I’ve always held a special affinity for the color burgundy. This boot was all leather but with a twist. It was part suede and part regular leather. This combination of the two shades of burgundy leather created an unbelievably exotic look. The stitching was impeccable, and craftsmanship, a true wonder. It fit perfectly, and I immediately knew that this was the right one for me. It felt like my soul had met its long lost friend. Indeed we are friends until this very day and every time I put them oxford-blood boots on, I feel that I am reunited with a power - only the highest gods truly possess.
